Our school is participating in FCC Drive Away Hunger, which means we'll be collecting donations of food and cash for people in our area who are hungry. Because we're participating in this program, FCC will include our school in a draw for a $500 donation to be used to make improvements at the winning school.
There are three ways your child can participate. If you can, please send food items to school with your child from Oct. 9th to 16th, to support this program. You also have the option to send a monetary donation with your child to school, which can added to our jar in the main office.
Donations aren't the only way your child can participate. There's also a fun and easy art project the students can participate in - drawing a Thank You message to a farmer on a card supplied by Farm Credit Canada. These cards can be collected from the Main Office, Ms. Harris or the Learning Commons. The cards will be collected and shared with Canadian agriculture producers at a future FCC event. When our school returns these cards to FCC, our local food bank is entered into a draw to win $1000.
For easy reference, here are the most needed food items (according to Food Banks Canada):
pasta products and rice
canned meats and fish
dry and canned soups and stews
canned fruits and vegetables
beans and legumes
infant formula and baby food
